"Extra Vagancia" Sport Fisherman

This is my flotilla flagship. Scratch-built Inspired by 1970s Chris Craft 45 SF/Commander and Bertram 46 Convertible. Fiberglass 25-inches deep-vee hull made in the U.S.A. I found it on Ebay. Balsa wood superstructure reinforced with epoxy. Approx. 1/20 scale. Real boat could be nearly 42.2 x 13.8 feet, similar to a Bertram 42 Convertible (42.6 x 14.10). Equipped with 9v lights system. Completion time: nearly 155 hours (5 months). It runs with a NiMH 10.8V battery pack, 4mm driveshaft paired to a 3-bladed 35mm bronze propeller. Due to its high energy consumption during initial testing with a brushed motor (perhaps due to its very deep v hull design), I opted for a brushless "High Performance 2845" brushless motor I found on Ebay (around $30) and a mega-reliable and idiot-proof plug and play Mtroniks G2 30A controller, dramatically extending its running time. Under high speeds on calm water it tends to bounce just like a real deep v does, but can outperform flat bottomed boats on choppy waters.

Hull - Extra Vagancia
by: Bruno

Hello!

Yes, a Puerto Rican in Europe :)

As for the hull, I got it on Ebay. The seller regularly issues posts with similar hulls. I recently developed something like what you just described by combining two plans and developing my own. I did it all manually as I have no skills with CAD or any of those fancy programs. I used the .pdf plans for a cabin cruiser offered in this site, expanded them to 130% for printing purposes, and altered its keel to reach a Deep-Vee shape and followed reshaped the bow portion of the keel to follow the lines of a Chris Craft I like and voila, I got what I wanted measuring a bit over 22 inches.

Nice boat
by: Juan Perez

Hi
Super nice boat. Looking to build something similar to my kid but is very difficult to find plans and kit. I saw post of Dumas Donzi Z65 but I don’t find anything to buy.
The best of this boat is the Puerto Rico flag. You are from PR?

Thanks

Hi Bruno. You have been quite busy with the boat building. they are good looking boats. I have had my side trawler the Emily Clare on the work bench fitting a new motor & modifying the super structure from fiberglass to aluminium to reduce the weight above the water. She is almost ready to go for sea trials very soon. I will put up some pictures when she sails again, should be faster & more stable on the water.
