"Triton" Springer Tug

by Bruno
(Germany)

"Triton" is a Springer Tug push boat. The model's hull and superstructure with an Indiana type command cabin was borrowed from an American very plain and economical kit designed for swimming pool water polo. Kit was significantly altered to resemble a fictitious Salvamento MarĂtimo (Spanish Coast Guard) unit following Salvamento MarĂtimo's actual boat markings. Equipment and deck layout inspired by an actual Springer Tug push boats supporting larger vessels and barges found in US and European ports and rivers. Approx. 1/20 scale. Real life boat could be a 30-footer (9.1m) vessel. Equipped with 9v LED navigation lights and sound system. Motor utilized is an HPI Racing 1145 Gt 550 operating with a NiMH 7.2v battery and a 3-blade plastic 45mm propeller. Completion time: nearly 2 months.
